Logo files: which version should go to the printer or website?

Choose the file for its intended use. Its extension alone does not prove that its contents are suitable.

Logo files: which version should go to the printer or website?

Retain the original master

Keep approved editable source files and exports. Use the correct language, colors and logo revision. A screenshot or compressed chat image should not replace the original when the master is available.

Distinguish vectors and pixels

Vector paths scale differently from raster images, which depend on their pixel dimensions. PDFs may contain either or both, so inspect the actual contents. Enlarging a small image does not create missing detail.

Ask for production requirements

Confirm file formats, dimensions, color setup, font handling and cutting requirements with the printer or fabricator. Keep an editable copy before converting text or flattening artwork.

Organize the handover

Label versions by intended use, language and background. Test web transparency and small sizes. Send a preview beside production files and confirm permissions for fonts and other included assets.
