Before printing a QR code: test the destination, margin and final proof

Review the full journey from the printed code to its content before approving a print run.

Before printing a QR code: test the destination, margin and final proof

Verify one clear destination

Open the menu, catalog, page or contact action on a phone without the administrator account. Check for unexpected permissions or sign-in requirements. Add a short label describing the code’s purpose and confirm the business and URL shown after opening.

Distinguish the code from its destination

A code containing a web link usually requires internet access and a working destination. It does not automatically provide a fully offline page or permanent hosting. Agree who controls redirects, edits, removal and hosting, and retain the original content.

Keep the quiet zone clear

DENSO WAVE specifies an empty margin four modules wide on all four sides. Modules are the code’s small squares, not a fixed millimeter size. Keep text, decorations and borders out of this area and preserve square proportions through export.

Test real size and material

Print a proof at the proposed size and test normal viewing distance, light, reflections, curves and folds where relevant. Try more than one phone. A large screen image does not validate a small print, and SVG or high resolution does not replace proof testing.

Approve the production version

Scan a sample made from the final exported artwork and verify its destination. Retest after changes to the destination, size or material. Record the file revision, dimensions, destination and approval date. The QR tool’s availability is stated on its page; this guide does not mean new creation is enabled during maintenance.
